FAQ
1. How long does a program last?
Programs at vocational schools, just like degree programs at universities, vary depending on the subject matter. A short program can usually be completed within a school term to a full academic year; longer programs can last up to 2 to 3 years.
2. How much does it cost to enrol in a program?
Tuition fees at vocational schools are usually cheaper than the tuition fees charged at colleges and universities. The fee however, may vary, depending again on the subject matter being taken up and the length of time needed to complete the entire program.
3. Is there an age limit?
No. There are no age limits although you may find quite a number of students in their late teens and early 20s.
4. Do vocational schools offer financial support?
Vocational schools have different policies regarding financial support. Some offer, and some do not. It would be better if you contacted the schools directly and ask about these matters.
5. Do I need to study full time at vocational schools?
No. Vocational schools provide you with a little more flexibility with reference to your time. If studying is your only responsibility, you can be a full-time student. If, however, you are either working or have domestic duties that need to be fulfilled, you have the option of studying on a part-time basis. Naturally, if you study on a part-time basis, it will take longer for you to complete your program.
6. How do I choose which vocational school I should go to?
The same way you would select anything – by carefully evaluating the school as a whole, the programs they offer, the facilities and equipment available to you, and the qualifications of the instructors.
